About Us

In late 2019, Dr. Henry Svec (retired psychologist) and his wife Mary, made the decision to turn their 50 acre cash crop farm in Southwestern Ontario into a bee sanctuary. and nature preserve. With that decision, came another to create the website, www.wildflowerbeefarm.com where the farm’s transition, along with the progress of setting up new bee hives, has been chronicled in weekly videos since January of 2020.

The curriculum you will find on honeybeelessonplans is derived from the wealth of information contained in the ongoing videos being produced by Wildflower Bee Farm. We trust that you will find the curriculum to be interesting, engaging and a great way to introduce children to the inner lives of bees and their importance to the food chain. The curriculum is being developed by teacher, Patrick McGarry.

Patrick McGarry received his undergrad from the University of Waterloo, where he played Varsity Football and was team Captain for two years. He received his teaching Degree from York University, was selected class valedictorian, and recently graduated as Masters of Education student from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Patrick has a wide variety of experience, knowledge, and resources available to assist in the creation of the Honey Bee lesson plans from Wildflower Bee Farm. Working closely with Ontario Curriculum expectations, Growing Success, and Bloom’s taxonomy, the intention is to create easy-to-follow guides that provide engagement, critical thinking, activities, and materials to assess student learning.
